Notes

Isawa Kisaru's life is an enigma, even to his own family, which is known to value knowledge above all else. When he was young, his family, deep within the northern lands of the Phoenix Clan, was destroyed by a ravenous oni. The attack so far from the Shadowlands was terribly perplexing, but its effects were nonetheless devastating. Kisaru is the last living member of his family.

On that day, the child swore to avenge the deaths of his family, and the kami themselves seemed to bless the vow. Kisaru grew with a wild talent wih Fire that could only be controlled by the best teachers.His appointment as a Fire Tensai was surprising to none, though what many do not know is his unquenchable thirst for vengance against the monsters that destroyed his family. Kisaru has continued to develop as a powerful Tensai, but the training has not dulled his thirst for revenge as his sensei had hoped.

Since then, Kisaru has managed to discover how his family died. A cell of Bloodspeakers performed a ritual within the Isawa Mori that summoned the oni. It broke free of their control and ran rampat throughout the mostly-uninhabited lad until the Bloodspeakers were able to put it down. Kisaru learned one name of the cell members: Isawa Todari. His research has made Todari a wanted man, a fact for which Todari would love to exact payment in Kisaru's own blood.
