The Kyojin & the Kyojin Archer School

To the Unicorn, archery is not a skill, it is an art. Archery for a Unicorn is different from all the other clans of the Empire, in that they actually "aim" their shots, instead of relying on sheer instinct. One of the best shots the Unicorn has ever seen was Shinjo Kyojin, a samurai born shortly after the Unicorn's return to Rokugan. Kyojin's skill was a great asset to his clan at this time because of the prestige he drew from the other clans. The Unicorn was still struggling to be accepted back into the Empire, but in Kyojin's case, the archers of the Empire were forced to admire his skill -- some willingly, some begrudgingly. Kyojin was granted his own vasal family within the Shinjo because of his accomplishments.

The Kyojin Archers are the best archery units the great clans have, and until very recently, the best in the whole Empire. The rise of the Wasp clan began a fierce rivalry. Kyojin's followers and Tsuruchi's followers are constantly competing for the title of the Empire's best archer. The results are always close.

Kyojin Archery School

Benefit: +1 Agility
Starting Honor: 2 plus 0 boxes
Skills: Kenjutsu, Yomanri 2, Horsemanship, Meditation, and any one High skill
Starting Outfit: (All average quality) Kimono, light armor, kyu or dai-kyu, 20 arrows of choice, katana, wakizashi, traveling pack, 10 koku

Techniques:

Rank 1 - One with the Arrow
The Archer is first taught how to become one with his arrow. For each round spent aiming a shot, the Archer adds their Void to the total to hit. Archers may only meditate in this way for a number of rounds equal to his school rank.

Rank 2 - One with the Bow
The Archer is taught to not only to meld with his arrow but also the bow. The Archer can now shoot further and harder. The range of the Archer's bow attacks are increased by 20 ft per rank. Also add your Fire Ring to your all damage totals when using a bow.

Rank 3 - One with your Instincts
At this rank the archer is so in tune with his weapon, that he no longer needs to carefully aim his bow. Firing using the Yomari is no longer considered a full attack. Also the Archer receives one free raise on all shots with his bow.

Rank 4 - One Bow, Two Arrows
At this rank the archer may make two attacks per round when using a bow.

Rank 5 - The Moment of the Strike
The arrow now bends to the archers will. The archer may make a roll to hit and then decide how many raises he wanted to make. He may also spend a void point to re-roll any one die.
