My L5R Campaign
  • No Moto.
  • No Ronin.
  • No Scorpion.
  • Members of the Imperial Families must take at least one rank in the Social Position (Imperial Family) advantage. An Imperial family member with the Ear of the Emperor advantage is allowed to take the Different School advantage for free.
  • Members of the Great Clans must purchase both the Ear of the Emperor and Different School advantages to attend an Imperial Family school (Phoenix may attend the Seppun shugenja school with only Different School).
  • Dragonfly (Tonbo) samurai may train at a non-shugenja Dragon or Phoenix school without purchasing the Different School advantage, but will have one Honor rank lower than is usual for that school.
  • Centipede (Moshi) samurai may train at a non-shugenja Phoenix or Falcon school without purchasing the Different School advantage, but will have one Honor rank lower than is usual for that school.
  • Falcon samurai may train at the Kuni or Centipede shugenja schools without purchasing the Different Schools advantage.
  • Minor Clan shugenja schools often use unorthodox teachings. As a result, their Affinities and Deficiencies are sometimes not opposites. The element in which the shugenja receives the most spells is the Affinity and the one with the least is the Deficiency. In the case of the Moshi, this means two Affinities (Fire & Air) and two Deficiencies (Water & Earth).
  • Isawa Shugenja may choose their Affinity and Deficiency separately; they need not be opposites.
  • Shugenja may attempt to cast any spell from a scroll, but in order to memorize it, they must have a school rank equal to or greater than the spell's Mastery Level.
  • Insight is Ringsx10 + Skills. It should be 25 Insight between ranks, and Ringsx10 + Skills above 1 starts you out too low (Insight 105 was the lowest; most were around 115).
